lyrics

There is a sound from the corner downtown
It can be heard ‘round the country

This is the sound of one woman trying to do what’s right
This is the sound of another woman holding on for dear life
This is the way we are to one another, baby can’t you see?
You say you’re an island, but no one’s an island anymore

This is the sound of sirens blaring
Not from the road, but in your heart
Who’d have known it would come to this? We knew all along
Who’d have known it was happening? We knew all along
You only get to be shocked and appalled the first time
You say you’re an island, but no one’s an island anymore

There is a sound from the corner downtown

She has lived many lives. At 32 she made the reckless decision to leave it all behind for a music career.
